Default Forum Changes

I've started work on the new forum changes.

Please refer to the link about new forum titles/ranks/classifications.
http://www.keybeatonline.com/forums/...ead.php?t=3612

Let me start right off by subduing some aggression some of you might have. I'm talking about removing the "Chart Artist" group. This to me felt better as a badge. Since chart artists are no different than regular users(talking on a strict vB permissions basis) there was no need to have the extra usergroup all its own on the forum. You guys get access to one new forum, that's all.

I am open to the argument though, if you WANT your personal name color back, I might consider it. I feel the way it is now though, simply looks better, cleaner, and more personalized.

Work is continuing as I write this. I'm gonna clean up some outdated stickies next as well I am gonna re-assign some people to their new/proper forum usergroups.

If you have ideas/suggestions as to what you would like to see changed in vB, let me know in the comments here. I'm a busy bee on KBO right now so this would be a golden opportunity to get my attention for new ideas.

I thought it was because I only had one chart before (as opposed to a few/many), but I haven't been registered on the forum as a "Chart Artist" yet, despite Sequential Emotions being accepted.

What determines acceptance into the Chart Artist group is consistent quality.

If I can trust a person to produce quality work without needing to worry about technical and mechanical issues, then that person is skilled enough to be in the group.

Star that's not necessarily fair don't you think? I'll continue this discussion in private.

I am now conscious of having a mod status when I look over 1 board.

Thanks

I personally think you should group stuff up together. We have one Difficulty Moderator, one Community Coordinator, and one CS manager. Perhaps all of these could be classified as "KBO Contributor" or something like that. I understand that's the position of the people, but for example on FFR Tasslefoot, Synth, Jasonkey, Summerschool etc etc didn't all have different titles. I think Difficulty Moderator could even go under Chart Judge since they are still judging a chart, just for difficulty rather than acceptance.

I like the ideas here, I'll make SG aware of it and hopefully he'll see some positives in it.

As long as we can find a proper title that groups these jobs together, I'm fine with that idea.

Only problem is this isn't as easy as it sounds.

I don't think those titles should be grouped up because:

1. They are specific to what the person does.
2. This is effectively a volunteer job, and the diversity of titles means the work done here can be put on job applications when it's relevant.
2a. By removing the relevance of the title, it makes taking credit for the work you've done here far more difficult.

However, I don't think we should have a million colors for these titles. You could easily split them up into:

Administrative - red
Community-based - orange
Development - green

1) Yeah but on a forum basis it doesn't really matter. You'd still be the PR Coordinator and when you make announcements you'd probably sign it as "Arch0wl -- PR Coordinator" but personally I think it's kinda over-the-top for forum titles. Either that or I think all orange title should be red. I'm certain you can do it without giving you guys forum mod/admin powers although if you guys did receive them (or already have them) that's fine too.

2) You'd still have your official title, it just looks a bit ridiculous having a whole bunch of forum titles and colours. The moderator light green and dark green serves well cause it's kinda grouped up to show how much power a moderator has, but the different shades of orange along with specific job titles on a forum board again, looks like a bit much.

2a) Again, you'd still be known as "that staff member in charge of x".

This really isn't a big deal, and I'm not trying to make it one but I Think this should be done personally. If it doesn't I'm not going to be loosing any sleep over something so minuscule. Just kinda urks me.
